My approach to therapy:
My work with clients is infused with a non-judgmental, warm, and genuine approach. I tailor my approach to each client’s needs, while utilizing a psychodynamic and attachment-oriented perspective, meaning that my clients and I make sense of their struggles and emotional experiences together to address current issues. I help my clients figure out what they want, what’s getting in the way, what might no longer be working, and to find a new way to navigate their world to help them achieve their goals. Themes could range from processing major life/identity transitions, having healthier relationships, working through family conflict, healing from a painful experience, dealing with no longer effective coping strategies for anxiety, letting go of perfectionism, to no longer needing to escape from feelings. My aim is to empower my clients by helping them get in touch with how they feel and what they want/need, so they can have access to more choices in previously overwhelming moments.
It’s been important to me to prioritize culturally sensitive training and clinical experience so my clients can feel comfortable bringing all aspects of their identity in therapy with me. Additionally, I have several years of specialization in helping clients heal from traumatic experiences and work from a framework that prioritizes agency, emotional safety, and understanding above all else. We heal in relationship with others and in that space, can find grace and previously unseen solutions for ourselves.
I love working with my clients to gain new insights/tools to feel more authentic and grounded through whatever they’re struggling with. I hold my clients’ feelings, hopes, and fears tenderly and am so honored to be a part of their journeys.
My approach to supervision:
My approach to supervision is supervisee focused, prioritizing their goals as clinicians and their emotional growth throughout the process. I provide developmentally appropriate and relationally focused supervision, providing support, knowledge, and collaborative reflection when appropriate. We will discuss interpersonal and here-and-now processes, aspects of transference/counter transference, and increase comfort and expertise in their growing competence.
Fun Fact:
Prior to going into psychology, I was exploring a career in international development… my last position was guiding gap year students around Latin America, learning about sustainable agriculture and cross-cultural connection-!
