My approach to counseling: I am a white, cisgender woman who was born in New England but grew up in the Tampa Bay area. Ever since a young age, I have had a passion for helping others, which led me into the mental health field. I take a person-centered approach to counseling, focusing on the individual needs of each person, and working to develpo trust and a collaborative relationship with you. I believe that unconditional positive regard is of utmost importance, and my overall goal is to provide you with a safe and warm environment in which you can express yourself and feel seen and heard.
I enjoy incorporating a variety of counseling theories and techniques, including solution-focused and cognitive behavioral therapy, humanistic and strengths-based approaches, trauma-informed care, and mindfulness. I hope to help individuals increase their self-esteem and foster greater independence in order to lead you to feeling more empowered and capable of taking on life's challenges. I encourage individuals to be mindful and intentional of how the counseling session is spent, and to make the most of it by doing therapy work outside of the counseling session as well.
Fun fact: I love spending time outdoors, whether it is to go hiking or kayaking, or to lounge at the beach or take an easy walk. I am also an avid runner and enjoy running with my partner and dogs!
