computational biology

Research in the Molecular Biophysics and Systems Biology (MBSB) group focuses on understanding various aspects of biomolecular structure and function with application to fundamental biological processes as well as mechanisms of disease. MBSB investigators use state-of-the art analytical and computational tools available within MBS and other research support facilities at USF including the Center for Drug Discovery and Innovation Proteomics and NMR facilities and the USF computational cluster. Research areas include determination of structural ensembles of intrinsically unstructured proteins, investigation of the selectivity and functional consequences of oxidative stress-induced protein modifications, determination of mechanisms underlying selective membrane transport, elucidation of signal transduction mechanisms. molecular phylogenetics, and environmental pyrosequencing.
