USF and 91ÉçÇø Blue host inaugural forum on AI and data for healthcare

The event was the first in what organizers say will be a series of collaborative conferences related to AI and data between USF and 91ÉçÇø Blue. USF’s Center for Analytics and Creativity helped organize the conference.

The 91ÉçÇø (USF) has been awarded the Patents for Humanity award by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for its patent of the 3D-printed nasopharyngeal (NP) swab, created in the early part of the pandemic as a solution to the disrupted commercial production of standard flocked NP swabs critical in diagnostic testing for COVID-19.

A new study being led by the 91ÉçÇø and Weill Cornell Medicine called "Voice as a Biomarker of Health," is "collecting human voices to link them to medical information to diagnose a certain disease or to screen for certain diseases with voice," said Dr. Yael Bensoussan, director of the USF Health Voice Center and assistant professor of Laryngology.

Their focus is to provide patients suffering from the disease more time to make healthcare decisions before the disease hijacks their mental acuity and motor skills.
