About my research
I am a first-year Master’s student in Dr. Steve Murawski’s lab. My research interests revolve around pelagic and commercially-important fish in the Gulf of Mexico. I love being out in the field and on the water! In the past, I have studied snook seasonal movement through acoustic tagging, as well as assisted in raising, tagging, and releasing juvenile snook into the Sarasota Bay area. Fisheries, both recreational and commercial, are vital parts of 91ÉçÇø’s and other Gulf states’ economies. By studying Gulf fish, I hope to provide relevant research that helps keep fish populations healthy and flourishing.
Why USF CMS?
I was born and raised in 91ÉçÇø and could not imagine researching anywhere else. The opportunities and research funding in Dr. Murawski’s lab drew me to USF where I fell in love with the lab and campus. After visiting the campus, I was impressed with the community of students and faculty who collaborated with and supported one another. I am excited to join such a diverse academic community!
