Live Training Sessions

We offer a wide range of workshops designed to help you build and enhance your digital learning skills. These workshops cover a variety of topics and are available in multiple formats for your convenience, including live training sessions and self-paced (asynchronous) options. Whether you prefer real-time interaction or the flexibility to learn at your own pace, we have a format that works for you.


Live Training Sessions

The following workshops are your opportunity to build your skills while engaging directly with a Digital Learning expert and your peers.  If you missed a session, you can email us to schedule a consultation and/or reach us via our Live Support. Introduction to Accessibility (Live online)

Is everything in your online course accessible to all types of students? If your answer is "no", "I don't know", or "what do you mean by 'accessible'," stop right now and just click the registration link. In this session, you'll learn what makes documents and recordings "accessible". You'll find out why you want to make your materials accessible, even if you don't have students with disability accommodations. We'll then explore the tools to help you get your files in shape, and wrap up by demonstrating easier fixes you can do now in Canvas, Word, and with video.

Podcast 鈥 Getting started! (live online and in-person)

Learn how to create compelling content that enhances learning experiences, with practical insights from guest speakers who are faculty members with successful podcasts. Course Enhancement with Generative AI (Live online)

By now, you have probably heard of generative AI (GenAI). Platforms like Microsoft Co-Pilot, ChatGPT, and Gemini are revolutionizing productivity. In this session, you will learn how to fully leverage this technology to enhance your course(s) and optimize efficiencies. We will discuss and practice effective prompt engineering, explore GenAI use cases for course enhancement, see how your peer faculty are utilizing GenAI for their courses, and ultimately construct your own GenAI Course Enhancement Plan.

Self-Paced Workshops

Our self-paced workshops offer flexible, on-demand skill-building opportunities with the convenience of learning from anywhere, at any time. These workshops typically range between 2 to 4 hours depending upon the participant's pacing. Further, we encourage our faculty to revisit the workshops for "just-in-time" updates and new features annoucements. 

  • - Highly recommended for anyone new to Canvas, this foundational workshop provides faculty with a mastery of the most important elements including navigate the platform, menu customization, syllabus, gradebook, content pages, quizzes, assignments, and strategies for optimizing instructor presence to enhance student engagement. Whether you're new to Canvas or looking to enhance your expertise, this workshop provides practical tools and techniques to quickly set up a dynamic and engaging learning platform for your students.

  • - In this workshop, faculty participants explore a series GenAI use case tutorials, interact with peers, and gain hands-on experience with prompting on a variety of GenAI platforms in the context of teaching and learning. Participants ultimately construct their own GenAI course enhancement plan to implement immediately in their courses.   • Online Instructor Certification (OIC page) - The OIC is a fully online four-week certification that prepares USF Tampa, St. Pete and Sarasota-Manatee instructors to teach online. This award-winning workshop has certified over 2500 USF faculty and we welcome anyone who wishes to enhance their digital learning skills, regardless of course delivery format. Topics include strategies for planning instructor presence, active learning approaches for online presentations, assessment/feedback planning, and more. To register, visit our OIC page liked above.   • - Honorlock online proctoring requires proper preparation to ensure the best possible experience for you and your students. This checklist serves as a centralized training repository providing you with 鈥渉ow to鈥 tutorials, relevant academic integrity policies, and best practices for online proctoring. We strongly recommend that faculty complete the checklist in full before the start of the semester when using online proctoring.

  • - Kaltura is a media hosting platform for you to create, store, and present video, audio, and images. This workshop is structured around the seven specific Kaltura skills parsed into two parts, Kaltura Foundations (Skills 1 - 3) and Kaltura Advanced (Skills 4 - 8).   • - Camtasia is an industry leader in screen recording and presentation creation. This workshop provides you with the essentials on recording setup, recording, editing, and best practices for creating presentations that truly engage your students. Please note that Camtasia is "fee-based" and licenses are available for purchase through the USF computer store. Alternatively, you may book one of our faculty rooms equipped with Camtasia and all the necessary equipment for creating presentations.
