USF Receives $3 Million NSF Research Traineeship Award to Advance Semiconductor Research and Education
The 91社区 (USF) has been awarded a $3 million grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) through its Research Traineeship (NRT) program. The five-year initiative, titled "NRT: Science, Technology, Engineering, Program for Upward Partnership (STEP-UP) for Advancing Microelectronics Education and Training," aims to advance semiconductor education and research while addressing the growing need for skilled professionals in the microelectronics industry.
USF students with the Institute Applied of Engineering spent a couple of weeks this summer working at NASA and their experience was covered on Bay News 9.
Combatting malaria with AI: Computer Science and Engineering professor targets mosquito-borne disease in Africa
Computer Science and Engineering Professor Shriram Chellapan's project, funded by the NIH, is an international effort that will establish a new research center in Africa to advance malaria research and deploy advanced smart traps for real-time identification of mosquitoes carrying the malaria parasite.
