Lakecia Gunter Creates a Scholarship Honoring her Mother’s Legacy
Lakecia Gunter ('95 BSCP) has built a career recognized for technical expertise and industry leadership in promoting access to technology. As part of her vision to increase access to STEM education opportunities, she recently established the Barbara Griffin Memorial Family Scholarship, which reflects her personal commitment to supporting the aspirations of engineering students. Lancor Donation Supports Medical Engineering Students
The new Department of Medical Engineering has an established reputation in the biomedical engineering field and is generating interest from College of Engineering graduates. Among the first alumni to financially support the department is Barbara Lancor, who earned her bachelor of science in mechanical engineering in 1979. She and her husband Michael donated $25,000 to support the success of 91ÉçÇø medical engineering students. . Read the story.
Professor Ranganathan Memorial Scholarship
Nagarajan "Ranga" Ranganathan was a much loved and respected educator, and distinguished university professor of computer science and engineering. USF and Jabil Announce $1 Partnership to Establish Jabil Innovation Institute
USF signed a $1 million partnership with manufacturing services company Jabil to launch the USF Jabil Innovation Institute. The institute will be located at the Tampa Bay Technology Incubator (TBTI) at USF Research Park, and will help students and faculty collaborate with the company in developing solutions to critical business and technology issues. Turning a Lottery Windfall into Opportunities for Others
Engineering alumnus, Krishna Barri ('03 MSEE) is sharing his multi-million-dollar lottery winnings to help financially support engineering students. Barri, winner of $14.5 million in a December 2018 Lotto drawing, donated a $500,000 gift to create three fellowships for PhD students in the college’s Department of Electrical Engineering where he earned his master’s degree. During an alumni visit in San Francisco, USF Computer Science and Engineering alum Kishore Bopardikar (’87 MSCS) donated the initial funding necessary to establish Bulls LEAD - a technical leadership initiative and professional development program for engineering students.
