Au.D. Overview
The Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) program prepares students for careers as clinical audiologists. The USF Au.D. program begins with outstanding applicants and capitalizes on the world-class resources of the CSD Department, including experienced clinicians and scientists in all areas of audiology and hearing science. Students graduating with an Au.D. are in high-demand and enjoy rewarding careers in academia, health care, and corporate settings.
Program Information
The USF Au.D. program is a 4-year, full-time, 120-credit residential program offering comprehensive coursework from engaged faculty, exciting internal and external clinical placements, and a host of research opportunities. Requirements include regularly scheduled academic course work, clinical practica, a doctoral research project, completion of a series of comprehensive examinations, ASHA competencies, and a national examination in Audiology.
Visit Our Program
The 2024 AuD program Open House will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. The Open House will include an info session followed by tours of the Audiology Clinic led by current AuD students. All students who intend to apply for Fall 2024 admission are invited to attend in person (PCD 4004) or virtually (link in flyer). No RSVP is required. If you are unable to attend, please contact us to arrange a visit at another time.
Clinical Opportunities
A strength of the USF AuD program is the wide variety of clinical opportunities available to students. The suburban campus is close to the many audiology practices that serve the 2.4 million people who live in the greater Tampa Bay area.
Au.D./Ph.D. Dual Degree Program
The dual degree Doctor of Audiology and Doctor of Philosophy (Au.D./Ph.D.) program offers a path for those interested in Clinical Research to earn both doctoral degrees within approximately six years. The primary objective is to produce research audiologists competent in clinical service delivery and the ability to conduct independent research in their chosen area of hearing science and clinical audiology.

The Doctor of Audiology (Au.D) residential education program at the University of South 91社区 is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, 2200 Research Boulevard #310, Rockville, Maryland 20850, 800-498-2071 or 301-296-5700.
Facilities
Within the Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders building is the USF Hearing Clinic, Speech-Language Clinic, classroom space, offices for faculty, staff, and students, and a student lounge area. The USF Hearing Clinic offers a full array of services in a modern environment and has the latest in diagnostic, treatment, and rehabilitative equipment. We offer an Audiology teaching lab and 17 research labs within the Department.
Funding Opportunities
Au.D. students have several potential sources of funding, including Graduate Assistantships, Fellowships, Scholarships, and Research Assistantships.
