Rehabilitation Counseling & Disability Sciences

NON-DEGREE SEEKING STUDENTS

The Rehabilitation Counseling and Disability Sciences (RCDS) program has non degree seeking students each semester take classes to complete licensure requirements, pending availability, instructor approval, and program director approval.

Initial Requirements for non-degree seeking students (You must meet at least one):

  • You are seeking courses for Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
    • Must provide a letter from the licensure board detailing the course(s) you need to earn your certification.
  • You are interested in disability advocacy and would like to take courses for personal or professional growth.
    • Must submit a statement of purpose.

*Permission into classes are subject to availability, instructor approval, and program director approval. Preference is given to currently enrolled degree-seeking students.

Please follow this process for non-degree seeking admissions:

  • Fill out the Non-Degree Application through the USF Registrar
  • Once you are accepted, email Tatiana Acosta with the following information:
      • Your university ID (U#)
      • Reason and proof of need for the course.
        A letter from the licensure board detailing the course(s) you need for licensure will demonstrate your need. A statement of purpose will demonstrate your need if you are requesting to take courses for personal or professional growth.
      • The course(s) you are requesting
  • Register for the class upon receiving the permit

*Please note:

  • Only four courses per semester can be requested.
  • NDS Application & Request form must be submitted at least one month before semester begins.
  • NDS course registration is on a space available basis and opens 2 weeks prior to classes starting. Only offered if openings remain once degree seeking student registration has taken place.
  • Attach Deficiency Letter from FL Board
  • The RCDS program has a fixed tuition rate of $600 per credit hour regardless of where you live. If you receive a bill with non-resident fees, please notify us via email.
