Minors

A minor can be a great addition to a student's academic career. For science students, a minor can help to balance their heavy science schedules. For non-science students, a minor may help them to complete graduate program pre-requisites. 


Minors offered through Biology

Biology Minor

This minor is offered through the Department of Integrative Biology. 

As a general biology minor, it allows students to explore a wide range of biological topics.

Microbiology Minor

This minor is offered through the Department of Molecular Biosciences. 

This minor focuses specifically on microbiology principles, giving students a general understanding of the field of Microbiology. 

If you are currently working toward any Biology Major, you are not eligible for the above minors.

For all other majors, you can submit the CAS Minor Declaration Form to officially request that this minor be added to your account.

Please keep in mind, students may add a minor as long as it will not (1) force them to exceed their Excess Hours Threshold and/or (2) delay their graduation. Once you submit your minor request, our office will verify this information with your major advisor to ensure that you are eligible to add one of the above minors to your account.


CoMmon Minors for Biology majors

Minors can allow you to study other areas of interest to bolster your education at USF.

Students can declare a minor as long as it will not (1) force them to exceed their Excess Hours Threshold and/or (2) delay their graduation.

If you are interested in declaring a minor you should meet with your major advisor to discuss if you meet eligibility requirements (as noted above).
