Graduate Assistantships
Graduate Assistantships are awarded on an annual basis, with appointments for the upcoming academic year offered each Spring semester. These 9-month academic year positions are part-time jobs that come with a biweekly stipend, health insurance, and a tuition waiver which pays 80% of tuition costs. Most School of Interdisciplinary Global Studies GAs work 20 hours per week.
All applicants to our PhD program are automatically considered for a graduate assistantship and do not need to fill out a separate application. Students admitted to our doctoral program are typically offered a graduate assistantship that is guaranteed for their first four years in the program.
Our school also employs a small number of MA-level graduate assistants. To be eligible, a student must be enrolled in, or accepted into, an MA program housed in the School of Interdisciplinary Global Studies. Applications must be submitted by March 15 for consideration for the next academic year. Applicants will be notified if they will be offered a GA position by April 30.
