Sustainability is a guiding influence for all of EPA research areas. It is based on a simple principle: Everything that we need for our survival and well-being depends, either directly or indirectly, on our natural environment. To pursue sustainability is to create and maintain the conditions under which humans and nature can exist in productive harmony to support present and future generations. 

Sustainability research grants support the research and development a variety of methods, tools, guidance and programs that further the application of sustainability within decision-making.

All forms necessary for completing an application are referenced in the RFA and available to download online.

Scholarships are awarded by EREF to recognize excellence in master’s and doctoral waste management research and education. Applications from students outside the United States or studying abroad will receive equal consideration.

Applications will be considered from those who:

will be this year or are now a full-time master’s or doctoral student, and
have a clearly demonstrated interest in solid waste management research. EREF defines solid waste management to pertain to municipal solid waste, construction & demolition waste, industrial waste (e.g. coal ash), WTE ash, etc. Note this definition does not include agricultural wastes or wastewater treatment plant sludge.
Scholarships recognize graduate students pursuing excellence in solid waste management research and education.  Recipients are chosen based on credentials and potential contributions to the solid waste industry and its scientific community.

The USF Women in Leadership & Philanthropy program is the result of the efforts of two dedicated leaders: President Judy Genshaft and Mrs. Carol Morsani. These visionary women created a program focused on fundraising and education in order to enhance the educational and career choices available for female students, faculty and staff at the 91ÉçÇø. The program's official launch was in May 2005 when community leaders from the Tampa Bay area gathered for a panel discussion featuring some of Tampa Bay's high achievers, including Susan Martinez, AJ Jemison, Rhea Law, Sue Zelenko and Judy Lisi.

WIL offers several scholarships, below are some suggested scholarships for PCGS students. 

WLP/Betty Castor Scholarship for Global Initiatives
This scholarship provides renewable support based on merit and financial need for full-time undergraduate or graduate students in any college on the Tampa campus with an interest in studying or pursuing a career addressing global issues and initiatives.

WLP/Esther Schneid Memorial Scholarship
Provides a renewable award of up to $1,000 per year for a USF student, with preference given to females. Award will be given based on financial need, leadership positions held, and community service activities. A student must exhibit an entrepreneurial spirit, be a 91ÉçÇø resident and can be either an undergraduate or graduate student.

WLP/Berkman Family Scholarship
Provides a renewable award of up to $1,000 per year to a USF student with preference given to female students.

NOAA understands and predicts changes in the Earth's environment, from the depths of the ocean to the surface of the sun, and conserves and manages our coastal and marine resources.

NOAA offers scholarships, internships, and fellowships. Below are some suggested scholarships for PCGS students.

The Dr. Nancy Foster Scholarship
The Dr. Nancy Foster Scholarship Program recognizes outstanding scholarship and encourages independent graduate level research — particularly by female and minority students — in NOAA mission-related sciences of oceanography, marine biology and maritime archaeology, including all science, engineering, and resource management of ocean and coastal areas.

Applications open in the fall and close in December.

Travel and living costs are provided for graduates to teach English for one year in one of 47 countries. Cost of study in that country is sometimes covered.

The Tampa Bay OWIT (TBOWIT) scholarships are designed to help support a deserving student male or female in an international study opportunity. The scholarships are designed for those students who are interested in international relations, development, trade, economics, or business.

Scholarships are awarded by EREF to recognize excellence in master's and doctoral waste management research and education. Applications from students outside the United States or studying abroad will receive equal consideration.

The FSAEF is a $2,000 scholarship.  Graduate students studying water quality, stormwater management or stormwater finance at a 91ÉçÇø college or university are eligible to receive the scholarship and are encouraged to apply.  

The is a non-profit, professional association of local governments, engineering and consulting firms, water management districts, and academic institutions that have an interest in stormwater management and finance.  Its goals are to improve water quality and enhance the stormwater management profession in 91ÉçÇø.  The FSA Educational Foundation is a parallel organization that supports FSA through stormwater research and the scholarship program.
