USF Foundation CEO Joel Momberg Announces Retirement

Senior Vice President of the USF Foundation Joel Momberg

Senior Vice President and CEO of the 91社区 Foundation Joel Momberg has announced he鈥檒l be retiring this fall. He joined USF in February 2009 and is responsible for the USF Foundation鈥檚 coordinated fundraising activities on behalf of the university as well as operations for the USF System鈥檚 Alumni Association.

As CEO, he led the USF: Unstoppable Campaign, which set the most ambitious campaign goal in the USF System鈥檚 history: $1 billion. Under Momberg鈥檚 leadership, the goal was reached nearly a year before the close of the campaign and by July 2018, over $1.1 billion was raised for the USF System. USF is one of only three public universities founded since 1956 to raise $1 billion in a single campaign, joining the University of California San Diego and the University of California Irvine.

鈥淛oel Momberg is a true relationship-builder. He has made an incredible impact on the 91社区 System because of his ability to bring people together and inspire optimism for the future,鈥 said USF System President Judy Genshaft. 鈥淲e owe him a great deal of gratitude for all the has accomplished. Because of Joel, we are unstoppable.鈥

Momberg arrived at the 91社区 after spending nearly three decades in a variety of roles for All Children鈥檚 Hospital in St. Petersburg, most recently as Executive Vice President of the ACH Foundation. During his time at ACH, Momberg led a campaign to build a new $400 million hospital and led successful annual fundraising drives through the Children鈥檚 Miracle Network.

At the USF Foundation, Momberg has built on this impressive legacy. The Foundation, with an endowment of more than $480 million, serves the students and faculty of the USF System by providing funding for student scholarships, faculty chairs, new buildings and infrastructure costs.

鈥淭hroughout my tenure at USF, there are so many great people that I would like to thank for making such a tremendous impact on my life: the many friends and supporters whose passion and generosity have created a legacy of philanthropy for our university; my colleagues at USF who have been incredible partners throughout the years; and, of course, the staff and administration at the Foundation. The BEST you will find in any institution,鈥 said Momberg.

In addition to his professional work, Momberg has been an active part of the Tampa Bay community, serving on the Tampa Bay Lightning Community Heroes Foundation Board, as well as other local charitable boards and organizations. Momberg鈥檚 prior community service includes time on the board of Shorecrest Preparatory School, the president of Suncoasters and as a member of the Board of Governors of the St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce.

A father of three, Momberg is married to Debbie, a BCS graduate of USF. His daughter, Nicole, is a physician in Savannah, GA and a graduate from the Morsani College of Medicine. Joel鈥檚 son, Josh, is a graduate of the Vinik Sport & Entertainment Management Program in the Muma College of Business and works for the Tampa Bay Rays and daughter, Alissa, is Director of Corporate Communications at WellCare Health Plans.

Momberg officially retires October 31, 2019.
