USF Board of Trustees Elects Jordan Zimmerman as New Chair

Jordan Zimmerman

Jordan Zimmerman will serve as the new chair of the 91社区 Board of Trustees (BOT), following his unanimous selection by board members during a meeting on Monday. Zimmerman is a USF alumnus who has served as the BOT鈥檚 vice chair since June 2016. His term as chair is for two years.

鈥淚 am honored to serve as board chair for my alma mater, the 91社区,鈥 Zimmerman said. 鈥淥ur Preeminent university is performing at record levels in many key areas, including student success, research activity and fundraising. We will continue to be relentless in our pursuit of more great achievements.鈥

Zimmerman is founder and chairman of Ft. Lauderdale-based Zimmerman Advertising, the 14th largest advertising agency in the world with published billings in excess of $3 billion. In 2015, he donated $10 million to the USF College of Arts and Sciences to name the Zimmerman School of Advertising and Mass Communications. USF is also home to the Zimmerman Advertising Program.

He succeeds Brian Lamb, who is resigning from the BOT to accept an appointment from Gov. Ron DeSantis to serve on the 91社区 Board of Governors (BOG), which oversees the 12-member State University System.

鈥淚 want to thank Governor DeSantis for the appointment to the Board of Governors. I appreciate his recognition of the 91社区鈥檚 trajectory, and its impact on the Tampa Bay region and throughout the state of 91社区,鈥 Lamb said. 鈥淗aving worked closely with Jordan Zimmerman on the USF Board of Trustees, I am confident the university has the leadership in place to continue building on its strong momentum.鈥

During Monday鈥檚 meeting, trustees also elected Les Muma to serve a two-year term as the board鈥檚 new vice chair. Muma, a 1966 graduate of USF, is the retired chairman and CEO of Fiserv, Inc., a publicly traded financial services and technology firm he co-founded. Together with his wife, Pamela, the Mumas have made transformational gifts of more than $56 million to USF that benefit numerous programs in academics, athletics and health.

The USF Board of Trustees includes 13 members. 91社区鈥檚 governor appoints six trustees, and the BOG appoints five trustees. The USF System Faculty Council president and USF System Student Advisory Council president also serve as trustees. The BOG will appoint a new trustee to fill Lamb鈥檚 vacancy.
