Empowering the future: COPH鈥檚 Maternal and Child Health Symposium inspires change

The 鈥檚 (COPH) (MCHSO) is set to host its annual symposium, themed 鈥淣urturing the Next Generation: A Collaborative Approach to Maternal and Child Well-Being.鈥 

The event will take place on Thursday, March 27, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Friday, March 28, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at USF Health The WELL, Room MDL 1038.

The symposium will feature expert speakers addressing a wide range of topics related to maternal and child well-being, including community-based initiatives and public health leadership. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in discussions aimed at fostering collaboration and advancing solutions to pressing maternal and child health issues.

鈥淥ur goal for this year鈥檚 symposium is to inspire meaningful discussions and collaborations that enhance maternal and child well-being,鈥 said Taylor Morse, MCHSO research and education chair. 鈥淲e hope attendees leave feeling empowered with new knowledge and perspectives that they can apply in their future careers.鈥

MCHSO president Mahima Tatam emphasized the importance of the symposium as an opportunity for students to expand their understanding of maternal and child health issues. 

鈥淭he annual MCHSO symposium is an opportunity for students to strengthen their interprofessionalism and learn about current maternal and child health needs,鈥 Tatam said. 鈥淚 am looking forward to students having their horizons broadened by the expertise of our wonderful speakers.鈥

Beyond education, the event serves as a platform to foster connections among students, professionals and the community dedicated to maternal and child health. 

鈥淭his year鈥檚 symposium is not only about learning but also about building a community of passionate public health heroes for maternal and child health,鈥 Tatum said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 an opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals who are committed to making a positive impact. We hope to inspire students, professionals and community members to collaborate and create meaningful change together.鈥

The event is free and open to students, faculty and community members. Registration is now open .
