USF Department of Computer Science and Engineering Professor Miguel A. Labrador was awarded a $225K National Institute of Nursing Research grant to further the HeartMapp Project led by College of Nursing Associate Professor Ponrathi Athilingam. HeartMapp is designed to monitor and treat physical and cognitive symptoms related to heart failure. Heart failure is a leading cause of death in the U.S. with costs estimated at $32 billion a year.
