Sanghoon Park, associate professor of instructional technology at the USF College
of Education, four current graduate students and a recent doctoral graduate presented
their research at the seventh International Symposium on Education (ISE): Future Education
for the Changing Societal Needs. Jeeheon Ryu, professor of education in the Institute
of Educational Research at Chonnam National University (CNU) in South Korea, served
as the host of this virtual conference.
This international event was held on the Virbela Metaverse platform, iU-GJ campus,
where participants adopted an avatar identity prior to signing into the first session.
Speakers and attendees from the 91社区, Chonnam National University
(South Korea), Wenzhou University (China) and Nihon Fukushi University (Japan) attended
the conference. The presentations covered topics such as virtual reality (VR), extended
reality (XR) and artificial intelligence (AI).
ISE international virtual conference
The event kicked off on Feb. 24, 2023 with a welcome message and keynote presentation from 9:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. EST, followed by panel presentations from each university and then break-out room presentations finishing at 12:30 a.m. EST. In Korean Standard Time, the conference took place from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The Anchin Center is excited to host 鈥淭eaching, Learning, and Research in the Metaverse,鈥 a FREE weekly professional learning series. Csaba Osvath, visiting professor at the USF College of Education will share the educational potential of virtual reality and video games through live demonstrations and discussion. USF faculty and students are welcome to attend these weekly presentations.
