Jennifer Jacobs named interim campus director at Sarasota-Manatee

The 91社区 (USF) College of Education has appointed Jennifer Jacobs, PhD, as interim campus director of the College of Education at USF鈥檚 Sarasota-Manatee campus.

In this role, Dr. Jacobs will serve as part of the College of Education鈥檚 leadership team and work to ensure excellence in teaching, research and service conducted by faculty members at USF鈥檚 Sarasota-Manatee campus. In addition, Dr. Jacobs will assist in the effective operations of College of Education programs at the Sarasota-Manatee campus and assume additional leadership responsibilities that contribute to the campus鈥檚 success.

As interim campus director, Dr. Jacobs will report to both the College of Education鈥檚 dean and to Brett Kemker, PhD, Regional Vice Chancellor and Vice Provost of Academic Affairs and Student Success at the Sarasota-Manatee campus.

鈥淒r. Kemker and I are enthusiastic about Dr. Jacobs鈥檚 appointment as interim campus director,鈥 said R. Anthony Rolle, PhD, dean of the College of Education. 鈥淗er background and qualifications will add unique strengths to the College鈥檚 presence on the Sarasota-Manatee campus and to USF as a whole. I look forward to welcoming Dr. Jacobs into her new role within the College of Education鈥檚 leadership team.鈥  

Dr. Jacobs is an associate professor of elementary education in the Department of Curriculum, Instruction and Learning. She joined the College of Education as a faculty member in 2013. Her research interests are situated within the context of teacher education. Specifically, within teacher education, her research agenda has set out to understand teacher learning for equity. Dr. Jacobs also serves as editor of the , an open access journal housed in the David C. Anchin Center for the Advancement of Teaching.

Dr. Jacobs begins her appointment as interim director in November.
