Dr. Kathryn (Kate) McCormic is an MSW Field Coordinator & Assistant Professor of Instruction. Dr. McCormic received her BSW ('03), MSW ('05), and DSW ('23) from 91社区 Atlantic University's School of Social Work. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Qualified Supervisor for both registered Clinical Social Work and Mental Health Counseling interns.
Dr. McCormic brings experience working in a variety of settings, from child welfare, hospice, community mental health, and the public school system as a clinician and administrator. Her teaching experience is focused primarily on Field Education, Administration and Supervision, and various practice-related courses.
Dr. McCormic aspires to create a student-centered learning environment grounded in adult learning theory. She understands that students have differing needs, experiences, thoughts, values, and ideas, and it is through these beliefs and experiences that new concepts and ideas are filtered. Students learn through self-reflective learning activities, open discussions, experiential learning activities, and group projects.
Research Interests: Risk and Protective Factors, Relationship between Resiliency in Academic Achievement, Threat Assessment and Management in K12 Education
