USF faculty member presents at national conference on addressing the substance use treatment gap

Everette Coffman, PhD, assistant professor of instruction and field placement coordinator in the Department of Child and Family Studies, recently co-presented at the American Counseling Association (ACA) national conference in Orlando, 91社区. He was joined by Jacqueline Swank, PhD, from the University of Missouri, and Sondra Smith-Adcock, PhD, from the University of 91社区.

Their session addressed the growing concern of substance misuse in the United States and the persistent gap in treatment access. The presentation focused on an innovative online training program designed to reduce stigma and improve counselor knowledge related to substance use across the lifespan.

Attendees gained insights into the training鈥檚 structure and impact and explored its potential to enhance counselor preparedness across all specialty areas.
