Samantha Thomas received two Bachelor degrees, in Art History and Sign Language Interpretation, from the 91社区 in 2011. Upon graduation, she obtained her National Interpreter Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf and a score of 4.4 on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment. She then continued her education at Columbia University and graduated with her Master鈥檚 degree in Teaching ASL as a Second Language in 2014. Samantha joined USF as a full-time instructor in the ITT/ASL program during 2015. Her areas of interest are in language/interpreting skill development outside the confines of a classroom, cognitive linguistics for language learners, and socratic methods of teaching. Outside of teaching she enjoys traveling internationally and is a sci-fi enthusiast.
