Jason Lazarus is an artist exploring vision and visibility. His work includes a range of fluid methodologies: original, found and appropriated images, text-as-image, animated GIFs, photo-derived sculptures, pigment-inks-as-image, live archives, and public submission repositories among others. This expanded photographic practice seeks new approaches of inquiry, embodiment, and bearing witness.

Lazarus has exhibited works nationally and internationally. He has been included in major exhibitions such as 鈥淎 Matter of Memory: Photography as Object in the Digital Age鈥 (2017) at the George Eastman Museum,; 鈥淎bout Time: Photography in a Moment of Change鈥 (2016) at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; 鈥淏lack Is, Black Ain鈥檛鈥 (2008) at the Renaissance Society, Chicago; and in 2017 he was the Artist in Residence at Hunter East Harlem Gallery, New York. His work has been recently written about in publications such as Artforum, Frieze, and the Los Angeles Times. Lazarus is the curator of Coco Hunday, presenting solo exhibitions of emerging and mid-career artists. He is a co-founder of the online art criticism platform Chicago Artist Writers. Lazarus is represented by the Andrew Rafacz Gallery. His MFA is from Columbia College Chicago.
