Artemio Ramirez, Jr., Ph. D. (University of Arizona) is a professor in the Zimmerman School of Advertising & Mass Communications. He teaches courses in the general area of communication and technology, including graduate courses on social media, mobile media, and computer-mediated communication. His research interests focus on the social aspects of computer-mediated interaction including multimodal communication, information seeking behavior, and relational reconnection via computer-mediated channels. His publications have appeared in Communication Monographs, Human Communication Research, Journal of Communication, Journal of Social and Personal Relationships, Journal of Interactive Marketing, and New Media & Society, among many others. He also serves on numerous editorial boards for national and international journals. His research has been supported by funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the Army Research Office (ARO).
